The aim of this community development project was to empower the adult population of “Hős (Hero) Street” based on the interest and needs of families with children. The association achieved its goals through revitalizing and strengthening of local community ties involving different helping organizations. The objective was to give access to the local population of Hős Street to social services provided in strong cooperation with the partners (Ark Family Support Service, Ark Child Welfare Centre Kőbánya, Radar Youth Office, Reformed Church Community of Törökőr, Municipality of Kőbánya, and Property Management Kőbánya). They established a permanent forum of professionals, educated local people, organized group activities and encouraged volunteerism. As a result, locals can express their needs and interests better, activism increases, locals will be able to influence decision-making.
