People newly settled in the farms have a different culture than the inhabitants of the village. They don’t know the self-sustaining techniques that help people to survive in these areas. Distance is growing between the two groups. The project’s goal was to organize activities for the recent settlers, cooperating with the town’s original inhabitants that can contribute to the reduction of exclusions. Target groups are families living in the outskirts: underprivileged, low-educated families with low income, living in unsuitable board and lodging circumstances, having 2 or more children or permanently ill children. As a result of the project families gained useful skills (such as building, maintaining, heating and baker’s trade), and their life-circumstances are improving. Partners are the Regional Family Protection and Advisory Office of Békéscsaba, Nurse Office, and the Slovak Tradition-holding Foundation. The organization itself has become stronger, its connections with the target group are broadened and improved. The whole process of the work is published on the foundation’s blog and at photographic exhibitions, as well as the social professional forums of the Regional Family Protection and Advisory Office.
