Mothers’ basic human rights are violated in obstetric care in Hungary. Most women don’t know their rights, opportunities and scientific results related to birth. Disadvantaged communities are the most vulnerable, having no equal opportunities.
The project aimed at raising awareness of perinatal events, the importance of social support; developing participants' ability to enforce their interests; introducing holistic maternity care; increasing participants’ assertiveness.
Target groups were prospective mothers, mothers, grandmothers from disadvantaged settlements; NGOsand institutions supporting the target group. The indirect target group were relatives and the wider community.
Within the ptoject, the target group had a 4x40 hours perinatal training. Participants summarized their experiences and the possibilities to disseminate the results at a closing event. They created a network to transfer good practices, preparing contact network analysis.
Project results were attitude- and behavior change, improved communication between professionals and the target group, further cooperation between the Module and its partners.
