Economic difficulties, social inequalities, low number of community and civic improvements are identified in Csepel (South-Budapest). The project’s goal was to establish a multifunctional community place there as a social enterprise. The target groups were the inhabitants, families, NGOs, institutions. Through knowledge transfer and social work the community’s activity was to be increased. Networks, self-help groups are organized. As the project’s output, a community workshop was created with to eco-friendly renovation. Eco- and handicraft workshops as well as education programs were established under the pilot program. Ongoing needs assessment, hence prompt addressing to problems and reaction to changes accompanied the work. Local civic life is also improved due toe database development and networking. The community shop brought new business approach. The location will provide a venue for volunteering and for practice of ELTE community development students.
