LOVE PARK
Szúcs is a small village 23 kms from Eger. It has two parts (’Old village' and the former miner-settlement) with different characteristics and 2,5 kms distance from each other. Our goal is to improve the social-economic position of the segregated, isolated ‘miner village’. The main method is generating, facilitating collective actions among the inhabitants of Szúcs. We would like to integral the two parts of Szúcs and decrease, dissolve conflicts between them, between Roma and non-Roma people. This goal is based on collective (’community’) action. The main direction of this action is to create an open-air community place beside the small lake (so called „Love Park” with the lake and a small island) situated between the two parts of Szúcs. During the common activities members of the target groups get in touch with each other, and take part in the developing process of Szúcs. In this process our association also develops and becomes stronger. Total population of Szúcs (401 inhabitants) belong to our target group. Our main methods are the so called „Village workshops” (with local inhabitants, members of our association, professionals and decision makers). We plan our activities, programmes, study visits and the ’Love Park’ together with the method of community planning. During the project we cooperate with the local government, 'SZETA' Foundation (SZETA Egri Alapítványa), and we want to involve into the project the local Roma self-government and other NGOs as well.
